Other Services
Bring Your Own Device (BYOSD)
Student Devices
St Bede’s has implemented a Bring Your Own Specified Device (BYOSD) program. In the BYOSD program, the school selects a vendor and chooses a device for that year group. The device chosen will vary from year to year based on manufacturer availability and costing.
Where possible, devices will be competitively priced and can include warranties. Devices will typically be purchased in Year 7 for Years 7, 8 & 9 and again in Year 10 for Years 10, 11 & 12.
By partnering with a vendor to provide a device, there are a range of benefits including:
- Improved equity among students
- Consistency in teaching and learning
- Simplified support and maintenance
- Savings through volume purchasing
- Access to business-grade devices
- Improved warranty and insurance options
Purchasing of a student device is completed through a vendor supplied portal, with finance options available.
Learning Hub
The College has a contemporary learning hub in the centre of the main building. With a heavy emphasis on digital and contemporary learning, the learning hub replaces the traditional library. It is not a place of silent reading but rather a place where students can access material and interact with their peers and teachers in a way that best addresses their learning needs.
Opening Hours
Students are strongly encouraged to utilise the Learning Hub for research and private study purposes. The Learning Hub hours are as follows:
Monday – Thursday: 8.25am – 3.20pm
Friday: 8.25am – 1.00pm
These openings include recess and lunch.
Novels and some hard copy resources still exist, however, the Learning Hub integrates the most up-to-date learning technologies and resources to assist students in their learning.
All students at St Bede’s have their own laptop, so the use of predominately digital resources enables students to be provided with the most up-to-date and relevant resources.
