Student Devices
St Bede’s has implemented a Bring Your Own Specified Device (BYOSD) program. In the BYOSD program, the school selects a vendor and chooses a device for that year group. The device chosen will vary from year to year based on manufacturer availability and costing.
Where possible, devices will be priced at or close to $1286 including all warranties. Devices will typically be purchased in Year 7 for Years 7, 8 & 9 and again in Year 10 for Years 10, 11 & 12.
By partnering with a vendor to provide a device, there are a range of benefits including:
Purchasing of a student device is completed through a vendor supplied portal, with finance options available.
In 2023, the Year 7 student device is the Lenovo 500w and this includes:
An alternative optional sleeve is available for purchase.
All students at St Bede’s are provided with Microsoft Office and access to Microsoft 365 as part of their enrolment. In addition, they are also provided with subject specific software as required.
Devices are owned and managed by students, with some limited onsite technical support provided by Mr Ray Burg, St Bede’s ICT Support Officer.
1. St Bede's provide web filtering services but not security in the form of antivirus etc.
2. The school does not recommend specific software for at home use, but the Office of the eSafety Commissioner website has some information that can help parents provide a safe space for at home internet access.
