Languages

Languages will be offered to students in Year 8 at St Bede's Catholic College. 

The Stage 4 Chinese (Mandarin) course aims to develop students’ communication skills, focus on languages as systems and gain insights into the relationship between language and culture, leading to lifelong personal, educational and vocational benefits. Students will begin to develop the knowledge, understanding and the listening, reading, speaking and writing skills necessary for effective interaction in Chinese on a variety of topics. Students will also develop knowledge of the culture of Chinese-speaking communities and an understanding of the interdependence of language and culture, thereby encouraging reflection of their own cultural heritage.
